First Street Hospital was originally conceived as an expansion to the ambulatory surgery center that has been at a nearby location for several years. However, the physician-owners decided the new building would better suit their patients who might need more complex surgical procedures than could be udergone at the surgery center. The physicians have played an active role in the development of this facility from the "ground up".

Because it is a new facility, and because it is owned by physicians, First Street Hospital enjoys exceptional state of the art equipment both in its operating theaters and the patient suites. In many hospitals, the physicians themselves have very little decision-making influence on the structure and the equipment used at a facility. At First Street Hospital, the physician owners' involvement ensured that the best, most reliable and most appropriate equipment was installed to suit the surgical and recovery needs of the patients.



Our patient suites are large, bright, comfortable and are equipped with state of the art monitoring devices. Our equipment, furniture and architecture tastefully and respectfully keep the bariartric patient in mind.

 First Street Hospital is a general acute care facility that is predominantly owned by physicians who are Board certified in various subspecialties. First Street Hospital’s small, boutique environment was first conceived as an extension to the ambulatory surgery center that has existed in the nearby location for several years. In 2006, our idea changed from an expansion to a hospital in order to better accommodate the needs of the patients.




First Street Hospital houses its own radiology department complete with CT-Scan and Ultrasound.

In addition to the Radiology component at First Street, we also have an in-house Lab. This on-site facility allows for fantastic convenience for our patients and for the physicians.

First Street Hospital utilizes contemporary interior design where the colors and the materials evoke a calm, relaxing and sophisticated environment to promote a healing experience.

First Street Hospital is spacious and bright. We have broad, expansive windows that allow light to flow throughout the hallways and lounges. The clear views of our grounds "bring the outside in", which creates a feeling of warmth, familiarity and serenity.


The ambulatory center had been serving well as an outpatient facility, and the need was recognized for an expansion that could accommodate more complex surgical procedures that might require greater lengths of anesthesia time, or overnight recovery stays. By creating an affiliated facility with greater acuity in mind, our physician partners found they could fully serve their patient base.

Our partners’ enthusiasm for the development of a hospital in this location was further enhanced with the realization of the additional benefits their patients would enjoy from a facility such as this. By having an ownership interest in the facility where their patients receive care, each physician has greater control over the surgical schedule, greater participation in the policies of the facility, and greater involvement in choosing nursing staff who reflect the professionalism and pride each surgeon holds in this facility. Rather than being suppressed by a large corporate owner that may not even reside in the community, the partners of First Street Hospital opted for an ownership structure that would allow them more direct connection to their patients’ standard of care.


With such heightened standard of care in mind, First Street Hospital is careful to staff with nurses and technicians whose credentials exceed the industry standard. For instance, First Street staffs with Registered Nurses (RN’s) who are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), which means that every nurse at First Street has the same qualifications as a nurse in a standard Intensive Care Unit at a larger hospital. In addition, we seek out nursing staff with a high degree of clinical excellence, great customer service skills, and whose outgoing personalities are well suited to our patient base. Each individual on the clinical staff is certified by their individual state boards, and they are required by First Street to participate in annual continuing education.

Our hospital is centrally and conveniently located just off the 610 Loop in the municipality of Bellaire. We chose this location because of its convenience for our patients – we are close to, but free from the congestion of the Texas Medical Center, Bellaire is a safe, affluent area within Houston that enjoys a low crime rate, has its own police force and fire department, and it allows us to offer free patient parking right at the facility.

While many have offices within the Texas Medical Center, they also chose to practice at First Street because of the convenience to their patients and their confidence in the level of care. Each is Board certified in their subspecialties and undergoes an extensive credentialing process in order to enjoy privileges at First Street Hospital.
